How can 70,000 people be wrong? That’s how many locals and tourists use The Fred Marquis Trail in Florida every month. The 47-mile long paved path is known as the Pinellas Trail, and you’ll want to check it out on your next Florida vacation.

When you stay at Beso Del Sol Resort, you’re mere steps from this linear park and recreation trail that extends from St. Petersburg to Tarpon Springs, FL. You can join the fun and rent a bike from the resort’s front desk or put on some comfy shoes or skates and hit the trail to explore the great outdoors.

You’ll marvel at the greenway corridor as you stroll or roll down the smooth path that was once a railroad. As you head south from the resort to downtown Dunedin, Florida, you’ll enjoy ancient live oaks trailing Spanish moss that line the trail dotted with homes. Artwork inspired by this railway heritage announces your entry into delightful Downtown Dunedin, Florida. Dine, shop and enjoy the sights of this quaint Florida town.

If you’re in for the long haul, head north from Beso Del Sol Resort towards Clearwater, Florida and Honeymoon Island. Along the way you’ll find restaurants, parks and even a historic chapel to explore. Rest stops with bathrooms also line the trail for necessary brakes!

What’s more, the park is a safe place for you and your family. Not only does it boast 10 overpasses and three underpasses to allow safe passage over or under busy intersections, the trail is patrolled. The Pinellas County Security Task Force, Pinellas County Park Rangers and volunteers watch out for your safety. Plus, the trail is equipped with an emergency response system with decals to enable emergency response vehicles to pinpoint the exact location of an incident should one occur.

Learn more about the park by visiting Pinellas County online. You can also pick up a trail guide at the Park Office, area libraries, chambers of commerce, bicycle shops, or at the Pinellas County Courthouse Information Desk.
