The Dunedin Café Experience: Part I

The word “café” brings to mind an intimate space with good coffee and maybe light fare, where you can sit outside and either watch foot traffic, or, in Florida, sit waterfront and watch the waves.

In Dunedin, there is no shortage of cafes, and you’ll be surprised at just how diverse their offerings are. Next time you visit Beso Del Sol Resort, be sure to stop by these favorite spots.

Café Alfresco

Located right along the Pinellas Trail, Café Alfresco is the perfect Dunedin sidewalk café and bistro. With beautiful views inside and out, you can enjoy hearty seafood, meat and vegetable fare with themes from around the world. Serving: brunch (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), lunch and dinner (daily).

Ohana Café

Organic goodies abound at Ohana. With Hawaiian-inspired flavors (like their popular Wiki-Wiki Wraps), breakfast, lunch and dinner get a whole new twist. The café has a casual, open-air atmosphere with tempting menu items including gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options. Try a pomegranate, mango or lemon hand-crafted soda. Serving: breakfast (all day), lunch and dinner (closed Monday)

Sabor A Cuba

Go for the cigars, stay for a sandwich. Sabor is run by cigar-making aficionados from Cuba who are deeply passionate about the art. Watch cigars being made, smoke a cigar or order a delicious sandwich from the menu including Cuban, pork and ham sandwiches. Beer, wine and coffee is also available.

The Living Room on Main

The Living Room is where you go to be social! Share one of their many flavorful small plates while sipping artisanal cocktails to the sounds of live music seven nights a week. Sliders, drumettes, flatbreads, nachos and many other shareables make The Living Room your go-to group-dining destination. If you’re feeling greedy, they also have a full menu of salads, soups and sandwiches. Serving: brunch (Saturday and Sunday), lunch and dinner (daily).

Sweet Peas

Sweet Peas is simply adorable. It’s a bright little Dunedin oasis known as a parent friendly café that is great for families and also brimming with healthy fare. Sweet Peas is a favorite for breakfast (served all day), but also has flatbreads, salads and sandwiches. Kids can play in the park-like setting while parents relax with their meal. Open Tuesday-Sunday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Art Smart Coffee Gallery

Want to enjoy some of the finest coffee around? Want to be surrounded by art? Do both at the Art Smart Coffee Gallery. A true café experience, Art Smart puts you amidst fine paintings and other art for purchase while you sip some of Florida’s best iced or hot coffee (voted best in Tampa Bay!). It may even be home to an original Picasso.

This is just a sampling of some of the awesome cafes around Dunedin. We couldn’t get them all in one post, so stay tuned for Part II in the near future!

What are your favorite Dunedin cafes? Give us your recommendations and they may be featured on the Beso Del Sol Resort blog.
